Polymer Supply Problems will Harm the European Market

Brussels-based European Plastics Processing Association (EuPC), said some recent major polymer suppliers had announced force majeure, the European market may damage effects.

“We have received reports from various national associations, said the mixed ingredients manufacturers and processors were facing shortage of polymer supply difficulties, unable to fulfill the contract between the customer.” EuPC managing director Alexandre Dangis said.

“At present, many EU countries are trying to return to the recovery, the EU is also in the plastics industry, a positive position, delivered to customers and the wider community the possibility to reduce carbon emissions, improve energy efficiency, then there is a shortage of supply of polymer situation is devastating.”

Polymer prices due to supply shortages caused by the customer will be transferred to the downstream chain. For example, plastic packaging manufacturers, raw materials accounted for a package price of up to 60%. If you can not deal with rising prices, manufacturing company’s survival will face great risks.

Meanwhile, the British Plastics Federation (BPF) has also warned that plastics processors are being caught in the main raw material shortage dilemma.
