Styrofoam insulation board is one of the three common interior wall insulation materials. Also known as a foam board or an EPS board, it is a white object which is formed by heating a pre-formed expandable polystyrene bead containing a volatile liquid foaming agent and heating it in a mold.
It has the structural characteristics of fine closed cells, and is mainly used for building walls, roof insulation, and composite board insulation. Divided into expansion EPS board (benzene board) and continuous extrusion type XPS board (extruded board).
First, the advantages of polystyrene foam board:
1.The polystyrene foam board has a small density coefficient and good impact resistance, and has sufficient ability to buffer the external impact force by changing and recovering the shape;
2. with an independent bubble structure, a small area of damage will not affect the entire wall;
3.The surface has low water absorption rate and good anti-penetration performance, which can effectively avoid the wall surface problems such as mold and falling off after the wall surface is wet;
4.Not affected by temperature. At high temperatures, the polystyrene foam board will not melt and flow due to excessive temperature, and will not be brittle when the temperature is too low at low temperatures;
5.polystyrene foam is a recyclable material, can be recycled, the degree of recycling is the highest in plastic;
6.Freon is not used in the production process;
7.The energy consumption of the whole life cycle is the lowest among plastic products.
Second, the shortcomings of polystyrene foam board:
1.Construction requires hanging nets, the construction process is cumbersome and the construction period is long;
2.It is flammable and produces toxic gases after combustion. Ordinary polystyrene foam insulation board is easy to burn, and the smoke generated by combustion is toxic. Even after adding flame retardant, the flammability can only reach Grade B;
3.the material strength is poor, prone to cracking phenomenon, the insulation layer shedding phenomenon is more common;
4.Polystyrene foam insulation board has limited bearing capacity due to its own strength, and needs to be strengthened when facing bricks;
